Death Anniversary of Bogdan Janski
Founder of the Fathers of the Resurrection
1807-1840
Bogdan Janski was one of the 3 co-founders of the Fathers of the Resurrection. This was taken from one of is words to the brethern on the Easter Sunday of 1839.
This feast of our forefathers renews in each of our hearts a remembrance of family and national ties- recollections of our own childhood and youth. Unfortunately, this year's Easter greetings are not filled with happiness and peace. Nevertheless, this holiday remains for us a symbol of our own resurrection, a future of triumph, and for the present, a bond of unbroken charity. These are the very sentiments which guide our pious family as we are united together as guests under one roof. May we receive in this religious observance new strength in our desire to serve. May this brotherly communion be a true picture of our future communion as brothers, which the words of Sacred Scripture so beautifully portrays: the lamb will lie with the wolf, the oppressed will one day come to a common table with the oppressors - to the Christian Lamb of love. Here, there will be one heart, one soul, one Christ. Oh, that the Victor over death and hell would give me His grace to wish you all this truth: that in the bosom of our resurrection mother - our country - there wave the one banner of the Risen Savior.
Reflection
We can see in this reflection the reference to faith in the Resurrection
And hope for resurrection of Poland, which, at this time was in a state of partition.
These brothers were convinced that to resurrection Poland, they needed to experience a personal resurrection.
That's what they tried to do in forming the Congregation of the Resurrection priests and brothers. crsr
