Certificate of Need Hearing

Today, we are asking your prayers
For a positive outcome for a Certificate of Need hearing
That is being held in Springfield, Illinois
Regarding Resurrection Health Care
And the transfer of ownership of two hospitals,
Westlake Hospital and West Suburban Medical Center
To Vanguard Health System.

Westlake is 83 years old and has been in the Resurrection System for 12 years.
West Suburban is over 90 years old and has been in the Resurrection System for 5 years.

Resurrection took over sponsorship of these two hospitals at a time when they were both in financial difficulty and was able to keep them solvent until this time.  Now with the economy the way it is and the changes in health care, Resurrection is not able to continue to subsidize these hospitals
 and continue to enhance Catholic Health Care in the Chicago area. 
Vanguard feels they can keep these hospitals going and provide good care to the patients.

Please help us pray that the CON board will approve this change of ownership so that the transfer can be made at the end of the fiscal year, June 30.
