Sister Bonaventure served the Lord faithfully in her 57 years of health care ministry and in her years of community ministry before that. In positions of health care administration, her job must have been a lonely one as often there is no one to share the struggles when in that position. She was recognized by her peers in the health care industry. Her presence and her work drew respect and admiration from others. Following in the footsteps of Sister Gregory, she had the tremendous task of “growing” Resurrection Health Care, and did so with additions to Resurrection Hospital, and then acquiring Resurrection Nursing and Rehab. Center and Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center. Constantly aware of the financial needs of the health care ministry, Sister worked with the lay Board Members to make wise investments to help secure the future of Resurrection Health Care at a time when government regulations and restrictions began to squeeze proceeds from the health care ministry.
Sister Bonaventure has been an example for all of us of giving herself totally to the Lord and totally to community life and our ministries. She served on the provincial council for several terms, was a delegate to provincial and general chapters, and served on many province commissions and committees. She always had the good of the Congregation in mind. She was always willing to help and took on the position of local superior for the Resurrection Medical Center local community when she was already up in years. Up to a few months ago she was sacristan at the hospital. Sister Bonaventure gave of herself 110%, if not more!
We place our Sister Bonaventure into the hands of the Risen Jesus, asking that she now intercede for us in our needs, in our ministries, and for new vocations.
