Easter Reflections
by Fr. Jim Gannon, OFM
When I served in a Michigan Parish, some years ago, there was a grade school girl who suffered from leukemia. It was Passion/Palm Sunday that I sat in on the Liturgy of the word for Children. The adult director had the children talk about the Passion of Jesus. They got to the part of the Passion where Jesus met his mother. The director asked the children, "What do you think the mother said to her son?" There was a deep silence. This skeletal thin, bald headed little girl, sat straight up and said, with deep conviction, "Son, you gotta keep on going!"
Today this "little girl" is alive and well. She is a doctor who specializes in the treatment of cancer that strikes young children. that is Resurrection!
When you forgive someone who betrayed you--that is resurrection
When you welcome a newly born child into the world- that is resurrection.
When you are an instrument of peace to the world- that is resurrection.
When you feed the hungry and cloth the naked- that is resurrection.
When you are sick and tied and tired of being sick- "You gotta keep on going!"- that is Resurrection.
Reflection
Whatever you are dealing with in your life right now,
I wish for you a resurrection. crsr
