One Tiny Light
This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you,
that God is light and in him there is no darkness at all.
1 John 1-5
Late one Sunday night I remembered that I had left my sheet music in the church sanctuary. I had led our church's choirs and orchestra in presenting two concerts and then had gone to a restaurant to eat with a group of friends. When I returned to the church to retrieve my music, all the lights had been turned off. As I entered the cavernous sanctuary, I noticed that one of the battery-powered aisle candles had been left on. The battery was almost drained, and the tiny light was barely glowing. Yet it was to that faint point of light that my eyes had been drawn as soon as I entered the church.
The light of Christ in our lives is very much like that tiny candle. No matter how great the darkness, it can never cover or obliterate the light of Christ.
Jesus said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life." (John 8:12). Because we are followers of Christ, his presence lights our lives each day.
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, help us to listen for your voice and to walk in your light each day.
Thought for the Day
Christ offers each of us the light of life.
Reflection
Everything that happens to us has the light of Christ in it
Because we are part of that beam of light
Just as we are the branch on the vine;
Just as we already part of the seed that eventually turns into wheat
And then into bread.
We are immersed in God's life
And sometimes, people see God by looking at the light that shines from us. crsr
