C II Ordinary Time 5 Sun
Introduction to the Liturgy

Resurrection Medical Center

This is the 5th Sunday in Ordinary Time.  There is only one more Sunday before the beginning of Lent

In the first reading Isaiah finds himself totally vulnerable until the Lord sent an angel to touch his lips. He was then empowered to proclaim the word of the Lord.

St. Paul tell the Corinthians how he was the “least of the apostles; not fit to be called an apostle” but once he was called by God, he became very effective.

In the Gospel, Peter, after fishing all night finds himself totally empty handed, until the Lord, after proclaiming his word, directs Peter’s efforts which then result in an
d overwhelming “catch.”

Our symbol today is a fish.  We have chosen it to place before ourselves the “catch” that is awaiting each one of us when we cease to focus on our weakness or smallness, or sinfulness and listen to the word of God that is proclaimed at this mass today.  We are invited to receive with joy and expectation, the Risen Lord, himself who through the gifts we have been given and the circumstances if life that we are in, does great things in our lives.
